4CH DVR4220 and 16CH DVR6220 HDD INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT:

Please note that different brands of hard drives such as Seagate, Hitachi, Maxtor etc has their own particular jumper settings for master and slave.

Please refer to the hard drive or hard drive manufacturer web page for information about those settings.

The hard drive themselves also have the jumper information printed on it.

Mounting the hard drive upside down will not cause any damage to the hard drive.

HD Installation Instructions

This is what an IDE cable looks like.

The color (left) end goes to the primary (master) hard drive, and the other (right) end goes to the main board, while the connector in between the two goes to the second (slave) hard drive.

When you open up the cover of the DVR, you will see the DVR looks like this.

Make sure screw the HD firmly into the DVR on the left hand side.

One side of the IDE cable(gray ribbon) is colored; normally it's red or blue. And also one piece of wire of the power cable is red. You have to make sure colored side of IDE cable and the red wire of the power cable face each other. Other wise, it will kill the hard drive.

Here is the way we install the slave drive. It's a little bit tricky that we put the slave drive upside down for arranging the IDE cable much more easily. Same thing is we still have to make sure the colored side of the IDE cable faces to the red wire of the power cable.
